Please help me with a knot.?
I need a bit…well, maybe more than a bit, of help with a knot. I live in an apartment and recently purchased two “topsey turvies”. As seen on TV tomato planter in which the plant hangs upside down in basically a thick, cylinder shaped, piece of plastic. A large hook is provided to hang the planter, but that was too high for me to reach to water the plants from the top. I asked my boyfriend to hang a rope to lower the planter and it turned into a full fledged “project”. He rigged a pulley system that allows me to raise and lower the planters individually. I love the pulley system. I need to learn how to tie a knot that will either allow me to raise and lower the planter by lifting on the planter therefore releasing the tension on the rope or a knot that is easy to release to lower the planter and easy to tie with the weight on the rope.
I make 2 loops in my rope. One loop is at the height I want the item to be. When I lower the item I just take the loop off the peg, and then lower it and put the lower loop on the peg. The loops are very easy to make, but a little hard to explain- just tell you boyfriend what you want and he will do it for you.
