I have sky+ multi room package and have noticed something strange happening in the early hours of the morning?
We have Sky+ multi rooms package one receiver downstairs in the living room and one upstairs in the bedroom.
I am a very lite sleeper and have noticed sometimes in the early hours of the morning between 2.00am and 6.00am the receiver in the bedroom seems to switch itself on as I can hear the hard drive start running, (sky plus records the TV programmes directly onto a computer hard drive)
The red ‘standby’ indicator is still on and the ‘record’ indicator is not illuminated.
When I have woken up sufficiently and turned the TV set on the
sky receiver is definitely switched off.
In the original package deal we were informed we have to keep their machines connected to the telephone line and periodically they would check to make sure we still had the receivers.
However this time has long since passed.
The hard drive runs for 10 to 15 minutes.
I suspect they are scanning my hard drive to see what we have recorded is it just me or am I being paranoid?
Well first, you’re paranoid….
They aren’t checking up on what you record…they don’t care since they are providing all the shows you can record anyways.
What they do is update programming schedules at that time, plus make sure all the unit’s have the most recent software upgrades to keep them running smoothly. Then they run diagnostics to make sure the electronics are ok…….
