Z Gallerie Furniture; The Comeback Company?
Gallerie Furniture is a furniture retailer which has experienced a couple of tough years. Z Gallerie operated 57 stores in 18 states before filing for bankruptcy in the spring of 2009. After closing 21 shops and getting a financing offer worth $22 million from Wells Fargo , Z Gallerie has returned and is ready to perform, but what do they plan to do differently? More to the point, how is this business intending to come back and get by, much less succeed, in an economy which appears to be flowing against the whole furniture industry?
It’s useful to examine the group of perceived troubles that Z Oak Living Room Furniture now encounters. First, since sofas and tables are durable goods, they are the first goods to suffer in a recession and the last ones to see the benefits of a recovery. Additionally, furniture marketing are historically related to home sales, and the main cause and affected party of the ongoing financial mess is the housing market. As a result, conventional wisdom proposes that our ongoing economic condition makes this a horrible time to either begin or resurrect a furniture business. Naturally, both Z Gallerie and Wells Fargo aren’t on board with this conventional wisdom, so what insight do they enjoy that the conventionally wise don’t?
One matter to contemplate is that ten-year-old conventional wisdom might not be aware of today’s marketplace. For the reason that many young professionals are more focused on restoring their credit rankings than participating in conspicuous consumption, they are more likely to lease flats and stay put than to obligate themselves for the mortgage attached to a property they can’t pay for. Since these folks are not intending to fill their future ancestral home, the forms of furniture they are selecting will be consequently different. Z Swedish Furniture focuses on the type of smaller and less expensive furniture which will provide suitable seating for a small family yet still fit in modest-sized rooms.
The other variable to consider is that the art of marketing has changed. Even though our parents found out about furniture stores and their sales by tv and newsprint ads, young consumers spend much of the day on the internet and see their promotions througn those technologies. Z Gallerie Furniture has in fact seen the writing on the wall, and maintains a Facebook page which connects them to over 5,000 fans.
Naturally, neither of the aforementioned factors could assure the future accomplishments of this particular company. Nevertheless, it seems likely that the up coming tide of successful furniture shops will need to add at least a few of Z Gallerie’s marketing lessons in order to be profitable in today’s marketplace.
