The Disney Channel Is A Satellite Tv Platform To Stardom
Cable and satellite TV have always been a platform for stardom for the young and eager in Hollywood. Whether it is a commercial, an appearance in a sit-com or a guest-starring role in a sports or crime drama, television is usually that ticket to celebrity status. Of course, those big budget films, indie flicks and that eventual Academy Award nomination usually follow, ideally.
Yet, out of all of the television stations on cable and satellite TV that offer shots at fame, none have produced more recent stars than the Disney Channel. With movies, television stations, retail outlets and theme parks, Disney is obviously a powerhouse with regards to the Hollywood industry. And with that power comes success, and the company has had its fair share of achievements lifting unknown television stars to international stardom. Plus, with the Jonas Brothers now stealing the hearts of young girls across the world, the future seems pretty set and clear for the future triumphs of Disney.
So, to pay respect to Disney and its platform channel, here is a list of the three latest stars to really impact the Hollywood film industry and make a name for themselves outside of the company’s shadow.
Hilary Duff – Breaking out on the scene in the early part of 2000 with Disney’s hit show “Lizzy McGuire,” Hilary Duff transitioned into Hollywood at the exact same time as Lindsay Lohan. While Lohan saw her career reach the stars with “Mean Girls” and then crash with her unfortunate party lifestyle, Duff maintained a steady career with a mixture of major films and made for television movies. Lately, her presence has seen a decline on the big screen, but according to IMDB.com Duff has a few projects – both television and movie related – that are scheduled for release this year.
Shia LeBeouf – Out of all of the stars to come out of the Disney industry, none have seen as much success as Shia LeBeouf. Starting out on the hit Disney channel show “Even Stevens,” LeBeouf broke out to the mainstream world with the well-reviewed family film “Holes.” From there, he co-starred in a few big budget films with such stars as Will Smith and Keanu Reeves before making a starring role name for himself in 2007′s “Disturbia.” Now, LeBeouf is one of Hollywood’s biggest stars, appearing in every Hollywood HD blockbuster and working with an array of big name directors and stars. The next biggest project on his plate is the third chapter of the “Transformers” film series.
Zak Efron – After a number of appearances in various roles, Zak Efron hit it big with Disney, starring in all three “High School Musicals” films, which still make the channel’s weekly movie circuit on cable and satellite TV. From there, his musical and movie career exploded, starring along side John Travolta in “Hairspray” as well as Matthew Perry in “17 Again.” Efron’s career does not seem to be slowing down, and as the newest and biggest thing for Disney, fans can be certain that he will continue to entertain millions on both the big and small screens.
