Why am I not seeing results on the scale?
I started this life change 14 weeks ago. I had a heel spur and went to a podiatrist. He gave me some orthotics and a night splint and prescribed physical therapy. My therapist took an interest in my weight problem. She turned me on to the tv show “The Biggest Loser” and I became addicted. I am 51 years old. When I started this I weighed 355 lbs. I am 5′ 11″ tall. In the first 12 weeks I lost 65 lbs. All I did was stay between 1000 and 1500 calories per day and work out for an hour a week at my physical therapy session. I also did crunches and planks every evening. I joined a local 24 hour health club 2 weeks ago and have been doing an hour of cardio and resistance lifting twice a day as well as keeping my calories the same. In those 2 weeks of working MUCH harder at it I have lost only 2 lbs. I am still very determined but am also very frustrated at the scale readings. Any advice out there? Thanks.
When you first start working out, the pounds come off really easily, especially if you are pretty heavy. It seems like you might have hit a plateau and you need to either reduce your calorie intake slightly or lift heavier weights or do more crunches or whatever exercise you do. So if you do 100 crunches, do 120. You could also try doing a new exercise routine just to switch it up, so that your body doesn’t get used to what you’re doing now. If you keep doing the same thing you’re doing now, your weight will stay the same, but if you change it up then you should continue to lose weight. good luck!
