Why are most of the Mexicans on tv white when only 9% of Mexico is white?
Is Mexico still holding on to the caste system that sees whites as superior?
Less than 9% of Mexicans are 100% white. 5% is closer. Most Mexicans on Mexican TV are not white, but for leading roles and for news anchors and show hosts they prefer whiter looking people. They also hire white people from other countries especially Argentina.
Caste system aside most Mexicans prefer the physical aesthetics of white people and most Mexicans, the approx. 70% who have white ancestry of any degree are more proud of their white ancestry when it is convenient.
