As Seen On Tv Locator

Shouldn’t the TV program “The Locator” avoid sensitive subjects that can turn children against their mothers?

I keep seeing segments involving adults trying to find their fathers. They had not seen them for years, usually right after their parents broke and believed he ran off, not wanting to see them and not paying child support. But, after meeting their dads, they are learning otherwise, that he was trying to see them, and was paying the support. Now, just because these mothers were lying to their kids, that don’t mean all of us do that, and even if we do, we usually have a good reason for it. Showing this on TV can get kids to thinking their own mothers are lying to them. We don’t need to be explaining to our children why we don’t think they should be seeing the sperm donors, and by saying he just doesn’t want to see them puts a stop to answering a whole lot of more questions. It’s not as if he was the one that had to carry them for nine months, they are my children. I don’t need some TV program messing with my relationship with them. Is there a way to complain about this program?

You can write a letter to the FCC or the heads of the network. I doubt they will change anything, but it is possible to write them. In my opinion mothers have no right to hide a father from their children, (unless he was abusive). My mother knew that my father was an a** hole, but she let me grow up knowing him and let me make the decision on my own (which I did decide that he was an a** hole). That is your child’s history, they have a right to know where they came from, regardless of how immature/idiotic/stupid your ex husband is. Trust me, that if they are as bad as you say they are, your children will realize this, and usually make the decision to cut off contact on their own. Plus, this way, mom isn’t the bad guy. I wouldn’t worry too much about a TV show making you look bad to your children. Chances are, if you lied to your child about their father, it will mess with the mother-child relationship regardless of a television show they watched. I hope this helps you.
