Home Improvements – Converting Your Playroom To A Home Entertainment Centre

In 1970s-1980s, folks listened to music through a car radio, a stereo and only watched television at specific times in the day the means and range of amusing yourself are now beyond the handful available back then.

You can watch video on your MP4 player, personal computer and on a television.  You can listen to music on your radio, mobile phone, MP3 player or IPod and on a Hi Fi system.   A lot of the existing equipment have been transformed which have enhanced the sound quality and style.   Sizeable unwieldy amplifiers and record decks have slimmed down and turned sleek, MP3 and IPod docking stations and complicated amps that used to have numerous buttons to twist for treble, bass, equalizer levels just to name a few.   These amps are available but there are now so many trouble-free types, that have just several knobs to push.

If you are approaching your forties, or several years beyond, then a lot of the music formats that you in your youth are obsolete.    Music Discs came in the form of 45s when you had a single on each side and 33s were called Long Playing Records or LPs.  But, the more you listened to them the more nicked they became, and sound quality ebbed with hisses, clicks and jumps on the tracks.   So the popularity of CDs grew.  The sound quality was an improvement, They weren’s so easy to scratch, although not impossible and lighter and spacesaving.    The escalation of sales CD systems and also personal CD players was highest in the nineties and noughties.  Currently the IPod and MP3 lead the way, you can download your music tracks, talking books etc you prefer and have it on your MP3 and IPod player, mobile phone and laptop computer.  Convenient for personal needs but you need a good quality docking station to use with it and from there you can plug it to your speakers, amplifier or television.

The transformations in TV technology have been extensive in the past 20 years.  Gone has the bulky, heavy box in the corner of your living room and now many people own a flat screen tv which can be adjusted for better screen position by everyone.  They can be positioned on a platform or hung on the wall to release some floor space.  They are lighter, slimmer and have enhanced picture quality.   The evolution in recording programming so that practically everyone has either a Blu-Ray player, DVD player or Personal Video Recorder (PVR) to record the programmes shown on Freeview, Freesat, Sky and terrestrial channels.  HD programmes look so much better when viewed on a large screen television.   A growing area of home redecoration is that of home cinema systems.   Many people now link their sound systems to the television and DVD recorders to take advantage of surround sound.  When seeing a Blu-Ray disc of the latest Hollywood blockbuster, it is much better when you can more or less reproduce the picture and sound quality of the movie theatre in your own home!
