Bet on Golf: Barclays Scottish Open Odds Favor Mickelson
Although the World Cup is fixated on TV screens across the world, golf enthusiasts will have two tournaments to watch this weekend with the 2010 Scottish Open and the John Deere Classic. Barclays Scottish Open odds will start on Thursday with Phil Mickelson 8-1 the golf betting favorite at online bookmakers followed by Ernie Els at 14-1, Martin Kaymer at 16-1, and Graeme McDowell at 20-1. The Barclay’s Scottish Open is one of the top events of the European Tour and will take place at Glasgow, Scotland on the Loch Lomond Golf Course. Mickelson will enter the event ranked 2nd on the Official World Golf Ranking with 12 cuts made in 13 events with a win this year at the 2010 Masters.
Mickelson finished 2nd in golf betting odds at the Quail Hollow Championship and 4th at the US Open. He also finished 5th at the Memorial. He has ranked no lower than 3rd in the Official World Golf Ranking the past 5 years running. Els is ranked 6th on the Official World Golf ranking and has 6 top 10 finishes in 13 events played with wins in the World Golf Championships-CA and the Arnold Palmer Invitational. Els has made an impressive climb from last year’s rank of 17th on the Official World Golf Ranking. He has won twice on this course in 2000 and 2003. Kaymer ranks 12th on the Official World Golf Ranking and is best known this year for finishing 8th at the US Open. McDowell is ranked 13th on the Official World Golf Ranking and was the big winner of the US Open. He won this event in 2008 and was a crowd favorite at that time, which will only be enhanced since winning the US Open. “Winning The Barclays Scottish Open in 2008 is right up there with my best moments in golf,” said McDowell.
