Reality Tv: Why It Will Remain On Your Hd Screen
One of the most popular types of television shows on satellite TV these days are reality television shows. There always seems to be new ones popping up on air. One of the most popular of the reality TV shows recently is MTV’s Jersey Shore, which first aired towards the end of 2009.
The Jersey Shore’s popularity surprised the nation as well as the show’s producers and the network is so happy with how the series was received that’s its already starting to plan a second season. The show, as its name indicates, follows around a group of young adults from New Jersey while they all are living in a house on the Jersey Shore for the summer. All of the housemates are from different parts of New Jersey and have been coming to the Shore for their teen and adult lives so the show isn’t anything out of the norm for them. The humorous and somewhat ridiculous cast members have nonetheless captured the attention of the viewing public in America and people have set their DVRs to MTV’s Jersey Shore so they can watch the weekly debacle from the comfort of their homes on their HD TVs.
The main premise of the show is not only to watch them interact as they live together and go out together, but they are supposed to be working in a t-shirt shop on the boardwalk to make money to live in the house. The job doesn’t go over so well with some of the cast members, as they do not like working and prefer to go out. For instance, one of the most controversial characters on the show, Snookie, doesn’t seem to have worked a day in her life and admits to spending over two hours a night getting ready before she goes out. Her look is complete with long black extensions, layers and layers of foundation, fake eyelashes, thick eyeliner and heels that make one’s feet hurt just to look at. Despite her materialistic exterior, she actually seems like a sweet person and one cant help but feel bad for her when several of the mishaps on the show happen to her. The first major and most controversial event that happened was when they were filming in a bar on the shore and she got into a verbal fight with a man standing at the bar. The fight was over some shots that she thought were supposed to be for her and her friends, but the man at the bar felt otherwise. Instead of talking about it, he decided to punch her right in the face, and hard. It was one of the most shocking moments in reality TV history, and because of the nature of the incident, never made it to satellite TV’s airwaves. The horrible incident can be seen on the Internet, if one cares to watch. Inevitably incidents like these are what keep people interested in reality TV and it’s what keeps reality TV shows at the top of the charts.
