How can I attach ribbon to wall as a border?
I painted a border around the top of my nursery yesterday; it looks great but when we peeled the tape away, we found that the primer bled through the tape and there is now a small line of white dots all the way around the room. We want to hide it inexpensively. I have seen on the design shows on TV where designers attach fabric to walls which gave me the idea to attach ribbon all the way around the bottom of the border to cover the dots. Any suggestions on how to go about putting ribbon up on a wall and it not come off? Initially I thought hot glue but I’m concerned that will leave an obvious glue line that I don’t want.
Liquid starch is what most designers use to hang fabric as a wall covering. You can soak and wring out your ribbon or paint or even spray it on like adhesive (you would have to paint a very small area at a time). Any obvious drips or overages can be easily cleaned up with a damp cloth and the benefit is that when you decide to redecorate the whole thing can be pulled down and the residue starch washed off. It’s not a temporary installation and will last generations if you like. Just be sure to establish your straight line before you start by using a level. Good luck!
