Balancing Yin Yang Energies In The Home

Yin Yang is a common symbol known all around the world. It is also a popular symbol used in decorating clothing, worn with accessories, and even on stickers. As popular as it is, its meaning is not commonly known. It represents the two energies that put everything in motion, that make everything happen; they are the essence of life. This is shown in the way the black and white halves of the symbol, although separate, seem to continuous flow and move together as one.

Yin and yang use the feng shui colors to represent its energy. Yang energy is represented by white and yin energy by black. One cannot exist without the other and they cannot work alone. A home needs good agreeable feng shui energy in order to attract energy that supports those inside, which is why a yin and yang balance is very important.

The passive energy of yin is also known as the female energy. This yields to the forces surrounding it. Yin is the energy of rest, relaxed and slow movements, silence, and deep darkness. The night when one is sleeping or anytime one is resting to recharge, this is the dominant energy.

The masculine and active energy is yang. This is the force that makes things work and move. It’s a strong energy that is associated with lively sounds and colors, and energy that the moves upwards. When there is a lot of activity like in an office, a house full of people, and a party, this is the dormant energy being experienced.

Active places in the home like the kitchen, the living room, and family room usually carry the strong presence of yang energy. Lively colors and elements that will feed on active energy are needed in those areas. Placing a lot of media materials and some games will help attract and keep that active energy flowing. But as always, to keep balance, remember to incorporate the passive yin energy into the areas too with deep colors and comfortable areas to sit.

The passive yin energy in a home is usually found in the bedroom. This is a place where you need that relaxing energy so you can recharge. It is important to get rid of the dominant yang energies that come in the form of TVs, office work, and even exercise equipment. But keep the presence of some of those energies through light colors to balance out the deep colors of yin and some candles. The yin energy in this room should be about relaxation, sleep and feminine sensuality.

Creating a home that carries a harmonious balance of feng shui yin yang energies is essential. A fulfilling and healthy life needs the balance those energies bring, and a good quality of it. Oftentimes feng shui energies can be imbalanced, life is busy so the yang dominates. That is why it is important to balance both yin and yang in the home.
