AS SEEN ON TV – speed up my computer!
I cannot watch television without seeing at least one commercial to “Speed up my PC!” For $15.99-59.99. Wow! How about an entire year of tech support for only $29.99 a month? We are inundated. Now I am a big fan of online services, but I also like to get what I actually pay for. If it sounds too good to be true, you may want to look closer at it. For the sake of clarity (and time – because I could go all day on the subject), let’s focus on the specialized software designed to fix your “registry errors” and clean your spyware.
Speed my Sluggish PC
It is an AMAZING SOFTWARE APPLICATION. It sits in the background and keeps your computer clean and safe and keeps things running smooth! It will increase your ailing computer’s speed exponentially simply by removing errors that occur over time in your registry and removing rogue applications. Here is what they don’t tell you: This software is completely FREE! There is no need for you to pay them at all!
Your Free Solution
I think that cleaning the registry is an overrated process, but that is another story. The fact is that if you find a good piece of spyware software it most likely will take care of the registry problem at the same time. Now you can pay as much as you’d like for the software. You can have it running constantly in the background (bad idea) or simply run it at will. Here is what my techs use: Free Software. Now there is a paid version of the software and I am sure it works great – but we are interested in the free version.
- Download and install the software
- Run the Quick test (this should take about 20 minutes)
- Select each of the detected items in the results window
- Click the button to fix the selected problems
- Reboot if prompted
- Rerun the software until it runs the quick scan without detecting any items
You have now accomplished as much as the “good” solutions they sell on television would have done.
Aren’t all the solutions at least good?
It is not always clear why, but many of the solutions out there actually have a negative effect on the speed of your computer. I had a client buy one after hearing an ad on am radio. Her pc actually slowed to a crawl. She called the provider and they actually tried to upsell her. They told her that she had an unusual issue on her computer and that it required repair. They kindly offered to fix the issue for several hundreds of dollars. She hung up and called me. I actually had to use the above solution to get the software off her machine. Once I did, her pc ran like new.
Now I believe there are good businesses out there offering solutions that actually work, but I haven’t found one yet that worked as well what I could do myself, for free!
