i have a 8 month old puggle and she is verrrryyy skittish and scared….?
i got her from a breeder and they flew her here as soon as i got her she bolted out the door and was lost for 13 days till i trapped her in a cage from animal control while she was missing i did get a new dog from my mom for my birthday from the pound and she is great..but now since i found the puggle she always runs from me and she still hasent gone outside because she never learned how to walk on a leash and i tried to train her but she just runs from me i never ever hurt her she is using puppy pads to go potty right now but i just wish she would start to like me i spend time w/ her..i pet her alot while i am watching tv and i lay w/ her alot i have only seen her play a few times when i throw the toy for my other dog but thats all i am starting to think theres no hope PLEASE HELP
Temperament is a genetic issue, you can’t change it. She will always be a dog with fearful tendencies. She probably wasn’t socialized well when she was young either.
My advice would be to only hand feed her things that she likes such as hotdogs, burgers, etc, so she has to come to you. And sleep with her. Packs sleep together.
Packs also walk together. Get a halter and put it on her firmly. Then just lift a little and pull. Ignore any protesting she does, just walk. She will learn to walk with you. Packs walk together.
She will always be a fearful dog. You can’t change it. But she will learn to be a part of your pack.
