Hanging up pictures in my apartment?
My walls are bare. I want to hang up some pictures and artwork type stuff. I just tried those as seen on tv monkey hooks, but the drywall is way to thick for those to work. Should I just use some nails or something?
Go to the hardware store or section of your local dept store and buy “picture hangers”. These have been around for a hundred years and still do a great job of hanging stuff on the walls without damaging them. It uses a hook and a nail; the nail goes in at an angle to minimize damage to the drywall and provide resistance to gravity.
By the way, if you rent and damage the walls, you are liable for the cost of repair. Straight nails and screws can cause a significant amount of damage by mounding the drywall as you drive them in. While this doesn’t look like much, it is labor intensive to repair.
