Unsure What is Going On…..?
I have been at home alone more often, I will be watching tv and feel like something is going to jump out at me. If I go downstairs to do laundry I get a feeling of panic and have to go back up. The other night I had a dram that my house was set up completely different and I could see the bathroom door. Out of no where the light turned on and the door opened slowly then started slamming. It stopped and when I looked in the mirror something was wrapped around me and was shaking me violently. I woke up in a cold sweat. This morning I woke up to my alarm and as I opened my eyes I saw what looked like a dark figure of a female standing beside me. I turned off my alarm and was staring at it. Then my eyes closed and when I opened them it was gone. Any ideas on what could have happened? I don’t think it is sleep paralysis because I was sleeping on my side and I have never had a sleeping disorder.
You’re right, I don’t think it is sleep paralysis. If it were sleep paralysis, you most likely wouldn’t have been able to reach over and shut off your alarm because your muscles would have been paralyzed and you wouldn’t be able to move.
Honestly? You’re probably scaring yourself. I’m sure it’s not comforting to hear this, but you probably have just a slight amount of anxiety about being home alone so much, and you’re probably giving yourself nightmares, day-terrors, etc. Basically, your mind is playing tricks on you.
If things do not get better, maybe you should talk to a doctor.
