Actors as PRESIDENTS/Ex-Presidents as ACTORS! Yes, no or perhaps?
Here in the USA, we’ve had one successful Actor become US President, just take the honorable RONALD REAGAN for example. Fred Thompson, another successful Actor, is thinking of trying to grab the brass ring. many others from Acting have entered politics to various degrees of success, but for the sake of this question we are sticking to just ex-Presidents.
Now for my question: Why not have some of our ex-Presidents take on acting for fun and profit? I’m not talking about ex-Presidents playing theirselves…that’s too easy, predictable, dull.
For example, let’s say former President George HW Bush plays a elderly victim of some extortion crime on one of those CSI type crime dramas, or former President Carter plays a diabolical southern Preacher, sort of a Jerry Falwell type, on a Hallmark TV movie?
Or we could have former President Clinton play a Musician who is down on his luck in a made for TV movie?
I’d pay to see that.

That would be fun, but you’re forgetting about the rules of the Screen Actors Guild. I think it’s OK with them if a real person plays himself, but they have to be union actors to get paid to play anybody else.
That being said, Al Gore and Bill Clinton are actually quite funny. Gore went on Saturday Night Live and voiced himself in the animated show Futurama. And have you seen Clinton’s “The Final Days” video??? =)
